Neighborhood
Church St. House is located in the quiet countryside town of Graafschap. Knob Hill Antiques, Graafschap Hardware (est. 1860s), and Graafschap Christian Reformed Church (est. 1847) are all within walking distance. There is also a replica of an early American settler's church down the street. What we love about this location is the fact that you are a six-minute drive from downtown Holland, a ten-minute drive from Saugatuck/Douglas, and a ten-minute drive from several Lake Michigan beaches. Holland has something for everyone. Leisurely walks, bike rides, beaches, several great dining options, snowless downtown sidewalks in the winter, unique shops, hiking trails, breweries, several unique coffee shops, farmers' market, and more. Saugatuck is your quintessential Lake Michigan vacation town. Great coffee, shopping, food, and vibrant energy radiating from the beautiful water.

Good to know
As you enter the front door, you walk into a large living room area and will also have a glimpse up the stairs. Living Room The living room has four windows allowing natural light in along with a large opening to the dining room which provides even more light and an open concept feel. There are two couches, two bean bag chairs, a bamboo chair, a large coffee table, and rugs for a soft seat even on the floor. There is a 55” 4K Smart TV to curl up and watch a movie or turn on the big game. Dining Room One of favorite spaces. Primarily because of the extra large table and the community and conversation it can provide. The table has a long bench and four chairs, but you can squeeze in a few more if needed. There is original canvas art hanging on the wall from our talented sister-in-law, Reina Wicklund. We have also included the table settings need for a beautiful dinner party. King Bedroom - Main Floor Directly off the dining room is the singular main floor bedroom. It has a firm king bed, lamps on both sides with individual switches, a large original build closest*, and a unique sloping floor when you first enter. Don’t worry though, the slope doesn’t effect the bed, it’s unique enough to mention though and was used, “to race matchbox cars” by children who grew up in the house. There is a rocking chair by a large window, a bench for when you need to tie or slip on shoes, and a good size wall mirror to do your hair, straighten a tie, or do a final double-check before you head out for a day of adventure. *For families with younger children, the closet is large enough to place a pack-and-play in. Kitchen We love the unique blend of modern and historic the kitchen offers. Original hardwood floors pair wonderfully with a large custom-built kitchen island and newly renovated cabinets and counter tops. The kitchen island allows for additional prep space and barstool seating for three. It also provides the perfect place for friends and family to lean-in during meal prep or clean up. There is a Bonavita drip coffee maker, custom mugs by Reina Wicklund, refrigerator, five-burner gas stove with light and vent, dishwasher, microwave, and toaster for convenience and enjoyment. Half Bathroom There is a small bathroom on the main floor with a toilet, sink, and mirror. While small, it serves mighty important purpose. :) Laundry Room Off the back of the kitchen is a laundry and storage room with a full size washer and dryer available for you to use. You will also find towels as cleaning supplies in here as well. The light switch for the deck light is located in this room. Deck Speaking of the deck, accessible from the laundry room, kitchen, and driveway is a large weathered deck with a partial over hang. We hope you will enjoy a morning cup of coffee or an evening beverage sitting here and looking out over the peaceful yard and park setting. The deck has seating options for all and there are even a couple of bamboo loungers. There is a bamboo coffee table and a cozy dining spot for two. Upstairs Full Bathroom At the top of the stairs you will find a newly renovated bathroom with a combination tub/shower. The tub is slightly wider and deeper than the average tub for a relaxing experience. We do keep a heater in this room during the colder months as it does not have heating vents. If you see condensation from the ceiling fan, no need to be alarmed. It’s from the cold attic air mixing with the hot humidity of the shower. You may see some water in the center of the floor after your shower, so please be careful not to slip. King Bedroom - Upstairs The second king bedroom is located upstairs and boasts spacious quarters with a large open closet and a workspace. The bed is a firm king bed with custom made side tables from a dear 80 year-old man who lives in Holland on either side. There are three windows to allow natural light in, but also shades with minimal light darkening capability. The desk is height adjustable, but can be tricky, so please be careful when attempting to raise or lower. Queen/Twin Bedroom The second largest of the three bedrooms upstairs has a firm queen mattress and a firm twin mattress. The queen bed has individually controlled lights on either side of the bed and a beautiful sycamore branch curtain overhead. The twin bed is tucked in the corner of the room with an original canvas piece by Reina Wicklund overhead. This bedroom also has a large closet space with a small dresser and a rod with hangers to hang up clothes. Twin Bedroom At the end of the hallway upstairs is small, yet whimsical bedroom with a built-in twin bed. There is a window overlooking the front yard, a small wooden chair, and a light that extends out for late night or early morning reading. The mattress is a firm twin. Yard The house has a large yard that seems go on forever because it is adjacent to a church green space, playground, and baseball diamond. Beautiful and peaceful green grass (or white snow!) to look out across. You can let your kids run and play all while keeping them in view while you enjoy relaxing on the deck. You can also join them for a game of kickball, soccer, throw a frisbee, and even play baseball if you bring equipment and balls along! Final Thoughts We hope you relax and enjoy Church St. House and the grounds around it as much as we do. We have made it a space we love being in and experiencing - and we want the same for you.
